Ruhrorter

Ruhrorter is a continuously created, multi-dimensional theater and art project with refugees. Site-specific theater productions and installations as well as anthropological research accompanying the process form the core of the project. The main motivation of Ruhrorter is the search for artistic-aesthetic forms in order to use the means of art to design a publicly visible and tangible correction against the stereotypical, stigmatizing categorization and exclusion of refugees and asylum seekers - both in civil society, as well as in the media and documentary art. Ruhrorter started as a project at the Theater an der Ruhr in Mülheim, initiated and managed by Adem Köstereli (management, direction), Wanja van Suntum (installation) and Dr. Jonas Tinius (research).
